After graduation from Valley Catholic last year, Chris Kiefer ’09 decided to attend Carroll College in Montana. Already in his freshman year, Carroll presented him with an award for the Outstanding Freshman in Math, Engineering and Science. This award is given out to the top students of each level and is based on overall GPA, faculty perception of the student, and performance in math, engineering and computer science classes.

Dr. Holly Zullo, one of Chris’ professors describes him as “a delight to have in class.” Way to go, Chris!

Late on Saturday night, April 17, at the end of the Valley Catholic Auction 2010, Sr. Rita Watkins, then Valley Catholic School President, plunged her hand into the large raffle drum filled with white tickets. As the audience quieted to find out whose name would be read, Tom Cleary, Valley Catholic School Board President, announced the winner: Aaron Frechette. While on stage, Cleary called the winner via cell phone to share the good news with Frechette: he had just won a 2010 Toyota Prius sponsored by Beaverton Toyota.

Mr. Frechette, who is not a Valley Catholic School parent, purchased the winning ticket from a VCS family that sold them after Mass at St. Pius Church.

We congratulate Mr. Frechette, and thank him and all the participants for purchasing raffle tickets. All proceeds from the car raffle fund the continuation of the fine education students experience at Valley Catholic School.
