Thirteen poker players attended the Valley Catholic Auction Texas Hold’em Tournament with President Weber.  Jill and Sydney Lovely were wonderful and gracious in opening their home and helping host this event.  They and Sharlayne Buuck put out an amazing spread of food and drink.  The players battled for 3 and 1/2 hours to get down to heads up.  It was a back and forth battle between poker rookie Joe Manning and David Koukel.  Even though Joe said he had never played Texas Hold’em before, he gave Dave a run for his money.  They traded the chip lead five times over a grueling half an hour, before David was able to finally vanquish Joe.  Joe was heard to mutter towards the end of the battle, “I haven’t had to think this hard for years!”  For David’s win he received a 3 day, 2 night stay at a Pacific City vacation home, a six pack of beer, and a pack of beer sausages!
