Friday, June 12, 2009 marked the inception of a new alumni tradition, a Golden Reunion celebration.  Alumnae from the class of 1959 gathered for their 50th reunion along with members from the classes of 1954, 1949, 1944 and 1929, who were also celebrating milestone reunions.  Sisters, alumnae and guests prayed together in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel in the Motherhouse, some of them traveling more than 1,200 miles to share in this momentous evening. 

Sr. Mary Fidelis K Kreutzer ’44, who was celebrating her 65th reunion along with classmates Sr. Ina Marie Nosack, wrote and shared a special Golden Reunion Grace (right) with guests.  Over dinner memories were shared, and current Valley Catholic High School students entertained with their musical talents.  Nostalgia would not have been complete without alumnae enjoying a slide show presentation by Sr. Charlene Herinckx ’66, complete with guests’ student photos from 1959 and earlier.

Among celebrants were Marion Smith Johnson ’49 and Sr. Victoria Nuttman ’29 who celebrated their 60th and 80th reunions respectively.

Bless us, oh Lord, and bless these gifts and bless the friends we’ve made
While attending the Valley High School and maybe also the Grade;

Bless all the dear teachers who taught us to love;
Let them join us tonight from their Heaven above.

Bless also the members of the Foundation bunch
Who keep us united by newsletters or lunch.

Bless this community and all members within;
Keep them healthy and holy and far from all sin.

We love you, dear Lord, and we thank you for life
And for keeping us safe from all worry and strife.

May these reunions continue for ages galore,
Not only on earth but on Heaven’s blessed shore!
